Ribbon Cable Assembly Types
Categorized by connectors used. Mostly, ribbon cables are used with IDC (Insulation Displacement Contact) connectors. In some cases, also used with crimping style contact.

Ribbon cable with IDC socket (female, receptacle)
IDC sockets are available in 1.27mm, 2.0mm and 2.54mm pitch. Most are dual row, but a few are single row. IDC sockets mate with PCB headers after being connected with ribbon cables for wire to board connection.

Ribbon cable with IDC header (male, PCB transition header)
IDC headers are directly soldered on PCB after being connected with ribbon cables. Also known as “board-in” connection. Just like IDC sockets, available in 1.27mm, 2.0mm and 2.54mm. Dual row and single row.

Ribbon cable with D-sub connector (male and female)
Female and female DB connectors used with ribbon cables are DB9, DB15, DB25, and DB37. They are dual row. Most ribbon cable assemblies with DB connectors are for wire to board connections.

Ribbon cable with crimping style contact
There are some cases where you would like to crimp the ribbon cable instead of piercing (IDC type). You will need to split the ribbon cable, crimp the discrete wires, and then insert the crimped wires into a connector housing.

FAQs
Step 1: Inquiry and quote. Send us your drawings or descriptions of the assemblies you would like to make, and quantities. We will quote according to your specifications.
Step 2: Samples preparing. We will make samples according to your specifications and send them to you for your inspections.
Step 3: Contract. Once samples approved, you may want bulk order. Place your order and we will make a contract (or proforma invoice) with lead time and payment information.
Step 4: Production. When prepayment is confirmed, we will start production.
Step 5: Delivery. For small cargo, you can authorize us to use your DHL/FedEx/UPS/TNT account for shipping, or you can pay us shipping cost and we will do the shipping. It’s always cheaper to use shipping agents in China. For big cargo, by sea or by train is more econimical but takes more time.
Step 6: After-sales service.
Ribbon cables are binded in 10pcs to 30pcs per bundle. And put several bundles in a PE bag (like the following picture). Then put certain bags in a carton.

The MOQ is 200-1000pcs according to the specifications.
For a small amount (less than USD600) you can pay by PayPal. We also accept Western Union. For more than USD600, you can pay by bank. And we do offer OA credit for clients who work with us for years on a regular basis.
3 to 10 pcs for free samples. You will be responsible for shipping.
It usually takes about one week if the components on BOM don’t take too long to get. And there will be 3 to 7 days for shipping. So total about 10-15 days.
It depends on the specification of the cable assemblies, and quantity of your order. 90%+ of our orders of assemblies are finished in 20 working days.
